Pro-Am Race Welcomes Sponsors and Guest for Fleet Racing Fun

Marstrand, Sweden – 7 July, 2010 – Day two of the open class round robin was followed by the ‘Stena Match Cup Sweden ProAm Race’.  This enabled guests of all the official boat sponsors from Stage 5 of the Tour to be the athletes themselves in the racing arena joining the professional match racers onboard the race yachts.

The VIP’s raced two fleet races with Swedish sailing heroes Magnus Holmberg (SWE) Sigma Racing Team, Johnie Berntsson (SWE) Berntsson Sailing Team and Mattias Rahm (SWE) Stena Bulk Sailing Team as well as World Match Racing Tour card holders Peter Gilmour (AUS) YANMAR Racing and Torvar Mirsky (AUS) Mirsky Racing Team.

Many of the sponsors entertained their personal guests onboard the DS37 boats enabling them to receive a unique experience. “It was really exciting out there, a great experience racing with Magnus Holmberg and we won the race”, commented Erik Raadsheer, Mölnlycke Health Care guest of new 2010 boat sponsor, Sigma.

Sponsor Pelle P used the ProAm race to welcome two new members of staff to their team.  “We used the day to build the relationships between the team and give them a little taste of sailing.  We have a sailing range so it is good for our staff to have tried this sport at least once”, Cecila Petterson, CEO/Designer at Pelle P.

Steve Kent from Santa Maria was also joined by his guests and was thrilled by the activity, “We have had a fantastic day, we were a team of complete novices and none of our team had been on a race boat before, we thoroughly enjoyed the day”.
